Granny and Brady

My mom came down from Virginia for a visit. She was happy to meet Brady and see how much Dawson has grown and matured.

Holding our sweet Brady.

Brady snoozing on Ganny. He loves to sleep cuddled up next to someone.

Road Races

Dawson has great fun racing all of his wheeled vehicles down our road. He gets a real kick out of racing me and winning the race. He also had fun beating his Granny in a road race.

Zipping by on his scooter.

Racing Granny.

Smiling as he gets ready to race.

State Park

We went on another outing to the state park this week. We took a short walk along a trail, had a picnic, and played at the park. It was a perfect way to enjoy a beautiful fall day.

We found this platform along the trail and Kaelin and Dawson had a great time playing on the "stage."

Waving their flags.

Beautiful Brady

Kids in a Pumpkin Patch

Dawson and Kaelin in the pumpkin patch at 7 Acre Wood.

Tiara

Kaelin received a tiara for her birthday and was nice enough to share it with Dawson, who wanted to try it out. What a pretty boy! I'm sure he'll be thankful for this picture when he's older. :-)

Dad and Brady

Brady Milestones

Brady is now 8 weeks old so I thought I would post some of his milestones.

  • He started smiling at us when he was about 6 weeks old but is smiling much more frequently now. They are big open mouth smiles that are just adorable.
  • He's also doing a lot of cooing and enjoys mimicking us when we coo to him.
  • He can roll over onto his side.
  • He has teeth!!! I'm astonished that his teeth are already coming in, but there are 2 that have already broken through the gums. And there are at least 2 more just beneath his gums that look like they'll be popping out soon. It's crazy!

Kaelin's Birthday Party

We were happy to celebrate Kaelin's 3rd birthday this weekend. She is such a sweet girl and her friendship is a great blessing to Dawson. Happy birthday, Kaelin!!

Birthday Weekend

We had an amazing birthday party filled weekend. On Saturday we attended 2 birthday parties (at the same park, at the same time) and then had another birthday party on Sunday. Dawson had a great time playing with all his friends, and eating birthday cake, of course!

Dawson having fun with the party favors.

Carson had a dinosaur themed party and these dinosaur noses were a huge hit!

Dawson and Kaelin blowing their dinosaur blowers at each other.

They thought it was hilarious to simultaneously fall backwards into the grass. They cracked themselves up!

A sweet picture of Kaelin with her arm around Dawson as they watched Carson open his presents.

Pet Deer

We feel as though the deer that come by our house are stalking us. If we're outside playing they'll come right up to us. Instead of moving away from us, they move closer and closer. They're not satisfied until we throw them some food. And if we're inside and they spot us through the window, they'll stand there and stare at us, waiting for us to feed them. This picture was taken from our kitchen window and that deer had been standing there watching us for at least 10 minutes. They really are like pet deer.

Looking Around

Lying on the bed looking up at the fan.

Looking wide-eyed at the camera.

Talking to Brady

Whenever Dawson sees that Brady is lying down somewhere, he loves to go and lie beside him. He'll hold his hand, give him kisses, and talk to him. He is a wonderful big brother.

An Almost Smile

Brady has been smiling recently and I was trying to get a picture of his cute little smile, but couldn't manage to capture it. This was the closest I got - the beginning of his smile. He does these cute big open mouth smiles - so precious!!

Playing Cars

Dawson driving his cars on Nanny's rug.

Gramps

Brady with his Gramps. We met my dad in Dallas this weekend and he was happy to finally meet Brady (he was going to come see him a few weeks ago but was deterred by Hurricane Ike) and had a great time playing with Dawson.

6 Weeks Comparison

Below are pictures of both boys at the same age, wearing the same clothes, so we can compare them. They are such cute babies!

Fun with Kaelin

We had a great morning at Angie and Kaelin's house last week. We played outside, had a picnic, and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather.

Big Game

Yesterday Randy and I were talking about the big football game this weekend, Texas (ranked number 5) and Oklahoma (ranked number 1). When I said something about Oklahoma being number 1, Dawson said, "No, Mom, Texas is number 1." :-) In his eyes, Texas is the number 1 state (something we reinforce when we teach him about the states in our country) and the mention of Oklahoma being number 1 was unfathomable.

Bath Time

Brady seems to really enjoy bath time and is very happy and content in the water.

Getting his neck and back cleaned. I love the adorable look on his face in this picture.

Commentary From Dawson

Some random thoughts from Dawson:

  • When we were playing at the park recently, a very nice lady came over to see Brady and said something like, "Hello, precious." Dawson immediately piped in that "his name's not precious, it's Brady."
  • As we were walking to Fair on the Square we passed a police officer and when he waved at us, Dawson proudly announced, "We don't speed." LOL!!!
  • Sometimes when Dawson is drawing on paper he'll tell us that he's "sending an email." I just think it's funny that email is part of a 3 year old's vocabulary.
  • Another example of him growing up in a computer age: When something is taking a long time, he's tell us, "It's loading, Mom/Dad."
  • Dawson loves reading and at times transfers that to his play by narrating various events. He'll say things like, "It was a quiet day in Huntsville when Mom and Dawson went to the park" or "Let's take the lid off the sandbox, I explained."
