Superman Pajamas

Dawson's Grandma got him a pair of Superman pajamas, complete with cape. He looks so cute and heroic in them. :-)

Such a cutie!

Tool Bench

Nanny got Dawson a really cool tool bench for Christmas. He can make many different projects with the pieces, including a a birdhouse, race car, and spaceship. He loves playing with tools and making things so he has lots of fun playing with his new tool bench.

High Chair

Randy put together Brady's high chair this week and we've put him in a few times to get him used to the idea. So far, he sits up in it just fine and seems to enjoy himself, though he almost always enjoys himself.

Christmas in Pearland

We celebrated Christmas in Pearland with Randy's family and, of course, the boys were showered with gifts. Dawson had a great time opening his presents, Brady's presents, my presents, and anyone else who would let him "help." Brady was wide-eyed, watching the entire scene, but is still to young to really appreciate it all.

Dawson unwrapping a new Melissa & Doug puzzle.

Admiring a new Little Critter book.

Very excited about his new Whack-A-Mole game.

Pounding the moles as they are lit up.

Two new games - Cootie and Don't Break the Ice.

A cool ball-rolling monkey toy. I love the bewildered expression on Brady's face, as wonders what is going on.

Pizza, Yum!

We had pizza for lunch today and gave Brady a piece of crust to chew on. We figure now that he's 4 months old he's ready for some real food!! :-)

4 Months Old

Brady is four months old today!! He is such a sweet baby and always "full of smiles" as Dawson says. Here are some of the things that he is doing at four months:

  • Rolling across the room. He can roll onto his tummy and onto his back so there are times when he'll keep going and roll across the room.
  • Scooting across the room. He doesn't yet have the arm strength to crawl, but he does push with his feet to scoot a little ways across the room.
  • Squealing A LOT. Whenever something catches his attention or when he sees something silly he'll let out a loud squeal.
  • Reaching for and grabbing his toys. He'll grab them and shake them or pull them to his mouth and chew on them. :-)
  • He's also still teething. His poor little gums are white and swollen in spots and he wants to chew on everything to ease his discomfort. Poor little guy. We wish the teeth would just push through already.

Sneaky Boy

Dawson is so funny!! He wanted something that was on top of the refrigerator (a new car from the Cars movie), but he couldn't reach it so he pushed his new bicycle over there and tried to use it as a ladder, climbing on it in an attempt to reach the toy.

Sick and Tired

Poor Brady was a little sick for his first Christmas. We all have a little cold, but it's especially sad to see our little guy sick.
Still smiling even though he didn't feel well. It's so unusual for him to lay his head on us like this. He usually likes his head up so he can look around and see everything.

So sweet lying on his blanket Christmas morning. Again, it's unusual for him to just be lying there with his head down.

New Bike

Dawson's big gift this year was a bicycle. Up until now, he's only had tricycles. He took to the bike very well and mastered it easily.
Going down our steep driveway - very fast and very fun.

Thankfully, we're the only house at the end of our small, dead-end road so Dawson has plenty of safe road to ride his bicycle. He went back and forth several times and also ventured to the loop road across the street.

Very happy with his new bicycle.

Happy Boy

Smiling and squealing.

Holding his hands out, which he does when he's excited.

Christmas 2008

Christmas 2008 was our first Christmas as a family of four. We feel extremely blessed to have 2 sweet boys and thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Christmas with them. Christmas is much more special and fun with kids - especially our awesome kids!!

I love that Dawson is so easily excited and his enthusiasm and joy this Christmas were great! Last year, it took us all day to open presents (seriously, Dawson still had wrapped presents under the tree that evening) because Dawson wanted to take the time to open and play with each toy after he unwrapped it. This year he went in spurts, opening a few presents, stopping to play with them, then opening a few more presents. So he did manage to open all of his gifts by lunch. I'm glad that he took his time and didn't go into a frenzy speedily opening gift after gift, without appreciating each one.

Brady didn't really know what was going on this Christmas. He slept through much of the gift opening, and vaguely watched Dawson open his gifts for him and show them to him. He did get some pretty neat things that caught his attention and has enjoyed playing with some of his new toys throughout the day. All in all, it was a good first Christmas for such a little guy.

We'll soon have pictures of our fun Christmas day, including Dawson riding his new big bike - he's a pro! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas too! I'm sad that it's over.

Abilene Christmas

We went to Abilene last weekend to celebrate Christmas with my family. It was great to see everyone and Dawson and Brady enjoyed the attention. Dawson was excited to open presents, but also took pleasure in giving gifts to others. Below are a few pictures of the gift giving extravaganza.

Johnny Jumper

Gramps got Brady a Johnny Jumper for Christmas, something we think he'll really enjoy because he likes to stand. And what kid doesn't like Johnny Jumpers?

Dawson "helping" Brady with his Johnny Jumper.

Hanging out in the jumper. He may be a little small for it right now as his head rests just at the top, but he'll be jumping up and down before long.

Montgomery - Garner Christmas

Today we celebrated Christmas with our wonderful friends, the Montgomery's. Randy and I enjoyed visiting with Lorne and Aimee and the kids (Cameron, Anna, Dawson, and Brady) had fun playing together.

Dawson trying out the Wii. Randy and I also played a bit and it was really fun.
