Vacation #4
In July we had yet another family vacation. We decided to combine a family visit to Abilene with a trip to San Antonio, where Randy was doing some teaching and the boys and I decided to tag along and make a family vacation out of it because it was in always fun San Antonio!
Our time in Abilene was especially special because I was able to be there on my birthday and celebrate with my family, which hasn't happened in a very long time. We staying with Gramps and Grandy, who treated us to an awesome cookout! We got to visit Nanny at her new house and are already looking forward to a future extended stay in Abilene so that we can stay with her at her cozy new home. We did our favorite Abilene things - ate at Casa Herrera (best chips and dip and chicken enchiladas anywhere!), went to the Abilene Zoo, played at the park, and had lots of quality time with our Abilene family.
After Abilene time, we stopped in Fredericksburg for a short one night stay, enough to experience that lovely little town (more on what we did there in another post). Then we spent 4 nights in San Antonio. We stayed at a Drury Inn, which I cannot praise enough. We've loved all of our Drury Inn experiences because you get so many extras at these hotels, most notable is all the free food (free breakfast each morning, free popcorn and drinks in the afternoon, and free supper in the evenings), which saves us a ton of money. While in San Antonio we strolled the Riverwalk, ate at Randy's favorite restaurant on the river (Casa Rio), visited the Witte Museum, played at the San Antonio Children's Museum, had a family movie afternoon to see Monsters University, spent a day at Six Flags (Dawson proved to be a roller coaster fanatic!!), and relaxed in our lovely hotel. It was a wonderful family vacation.
