Custer State Park
We absolutely LOVED Custer State Park in South Dakota. It's so beautiful!! Lots of windy mountain roads, lush green rolling hills, gorgeous trees, cute little rivers, lots of wildlife, and beautiful campgrounds. We didn't get to explore as much of it as we would have liked because we were off visiting nearby national landmarks and parks, but we hope to go back one day soon and spend more time at this wonderful state park.
See, it's beautiful!! And this is just one tiny picture and doesn't come close to capturing the true magnificence of the area. |
Me with my sweetie, Dawson. |
Randy and the boys. |
They look even more handsome amidst such beauty. |
We drove on the Iron Mountain Road. It was awesome (and a little nauseating with all of those curves). The best part was driving through these rock tunnels, like the one ahead in this picture. |
Going in. |
And coming out. |
Another one. |
So neat on the inside. It was even cooler when we drove through at night. |
Burros! There are several "wild" burros at the park and they come right up to cars and people looking for handouts. There were several little babies too - so cute! |
There were beautiful pronghorn gazelle throughout the park too. |
And lots and lots of bison. We got stuck in a bison traffic jam. |
More bison. |
And more bison. :-) |
