Davis Mountains State Park

There are mountains in Texas!  They are desert mountains so they are full of rocks and shrubs instead of big trees - but they are still mountains and are pretty in their own way.  And it was cool in the mountains - lows in the 60's and highs in the 80's - in July - in Texas!

We stayed at the Indian Mountain Lodge in David Mountains State Park.  We drove the scenic road up the mountain, did some great mountain hiking, toured the McDonald Observatory, saw lots of beautiful birds at the "best little bird blind in Texas," enjoyed the hotel pool, took a trip down the mountain to swim in the natural spring pool in Balmorhea, and had some really good food in the little town of Fort Davis.
