Chess Tournament

The boys attended a local chess tournament:

Brady decided that he did not like playing chess "in public" (his words) and he quit in the first round. It was sad and disappointing because he's pretty good at the game and plays well at home. But he experienced some anxiety - rapid heartbeat and shakiness - so we will have to work on that.

Dawson played his friend Ben in the first round.

San Jacinto Monument

We joined H2o for a field trip to the San Jacinto Monument and Battleship Texas.

Battleship Texas

It was fascinating to tour Battleship Texas, where we were pretty free to roam all over the ship.

Fairfield State Park Campout

We went ahead of our scout group to Fairfield State Park to enjoy a couple of days of camping as a family before joining in the weekend scout camping activities.

We had a nice site with plenty of room to run and play. Brady especially liked leaping up and down these steps.

A beautiful swing set location.

It's hard to tell here, but we saw a beaver swimming in the lake! One of the best things about camping is getting to see so much wildlife up-close.

These big tree with it's exposed roots is so neat.

5 Mile Hike with Brady

Brady and I went on a 5 mile hike together while at Fairfield. I love hiking with this guy!

Webelos Camping

The Webelos had a great time at the Pack campout. They are a great group of boys and they got along really well - and even learned some outdoor skills along the way. :-)
