Dawson's Eagle Scout Court of Honor

Dawson's Eagle Scout Court of Honor was a wonderful celebration of his scouting journey and all that he did to reach the rank of Eagle Scout.  Randy created some awesome video presentations - a very sweet one of Dawson in his Cub Scout years, one of his journey in Boy Scouts, and a great one explaining the history of the Eagle Scout and what it means to be an Eagle Scout.  Several scout leaders (from our local unit and from the district) came to speak in the ceremony, a City Council representative came to present a proclamation to Dawson, and Ms. Christian provided a meaningful presentation of the Peace Light.  Dawson was officially presented with his Eagle Scout certificate, the Eagle Scout medal was pinned on him, and the Eagle neckerchief placed on him.  We were joined by family and friends.  And we enjoyed lots of yummy food.  It was a fantastic afternoon!

Dawson ready for the Court of Honor, taking a quick pose on stage before everyone arrived.

The new Eagle Scout.

One of the elements of the Court of Honor is to display the Scout's various memorabilia.

The table of Cub Scout keepsakes, including a shadowbox with his Cub Scout uniform and neckerchiefs, a shadowbox of every single belt loop and pin (of course, Dawson got every single one as a Cub Scout), his books and hats, Webelos Arrow of Light arrow, and a couple of keepsakes from his first campout at Bovay Scout Ranch.

The Boy Scout table - hiking stick with medallions of all of the ranks, display of patches he's earned, his Boy Scout Handbook, folder with various workbooks and things he's worked on, an article in the Huntsville Item about his Eagle Scout, some certificates that he received from a few politicians, and a book of other congratulatory letters he received (some highlights of which were a letter from Jerry Jones and a picture of the Cowboys team autographed by Jerry Jones and a handwritten letter from Coach Rod Marinelli).

Refreshments were all of Dawson's favorites - chips, berries, vanilla coated pretzel sticks, frosted sugar cookies, cupcakes, and strawberry cake.

Red, white, and blue cupcakes with toppers that included every merit badge he's earned thus far.

The Eagle Scout cake.  I wanted to order one that would have been properly and fancily decorated, but Dawson was adamant that I bake the cake because he really wanted my strawberry cake.  The Eagle Scout gets what he wants.

Cute Brady hanging out after helping to set up for the event.

Dawson and Pastor Irving before the ceremony.  The pastor gave a wonderful invocation, which Dawson (and his parents) greatly appreciated.

This was funny - the scouts were at the food table talking about how many of each thing they were going to eat.

A great group of kids!

Dawson and Ben.  Ben was a great example for Dawson and always encouraged him, so Dawson was really happy to have him at the COH.

Ben, such a great flagbearer.  :-)
